Connor, James, of Augusta;
Born 1801 Wexford, Ireland; left Billyhack (Ballyhack village, County Wexford) May 1817; arrived Augusta 30 June 1817. (Augusta 1836 Term of Court at which naturalization was sought.)

US National Archives, Register of Enlistments in the United States Army, 1798 - 1914:
Enlisted July 8, 1823 at Fort Preble at Cape Elizabeth, near Portland, Cumberland County, ME.
Re-enlisted 4 times and served 27 years; fought with the 1st Regiment of Artillery in the Seminole Wars, and with the 2nd Regiment of Artillery (with sons George, William and James) in the Mexican War.


Retired December 3, 1850 at Fort Columbus, Governor's Island, New York City Harbor.

He is my Great - Great - Great Grandfather
